12 random things

I am going to take the challenge from my sister to post 12 random/strange things about myself...
1. I HATE taking pills, I can't smell them or I gag, I can't taste them or ill gag, I have to have water in my mouth and then swallow the pills with the water. Most the time I just don't take the pills, it's just not worth it!
 2. I normally make my bed right before I am about to sleep in it.  I hate making my bed in the morning but I can't sleep in a UN made bed.
3. I love popping zits and blackheads... when I shared a bathroom with Jillisa we would see who's zits gushed the most and could get on the mirror. Gross I know!
4. I hate reading and can count the number of books I have read on two hands.  When I was little I had a hard time reading so and now its more of a self conscious thing I think.
5. I love childhood things, night games, fairs, parades, fireworks, coloring etc...
6. I never really learned how to read clocks but I always have to have a watch on.  I can read them if you give me time, I just prefer digital clocks (even though I don't have any digital watches...)
7. We do this thing in my family called "pinch ya butt"  I am not sure how this got started but for some reason we always pinch each others butts, mostly while walking up the stairs...
8. I practice different facial expressions and ways to stand when I am getting ready, it helps me know if I look stupid doing something that I didn't realize I was doing...
9. I love popping my knuckles, and I have to do it in a certain way, and after all of those are popped I pop my back and then my neck.
10. I can't spell... Its just something I have never mastered.
11. I hate that awkward moment when you walking down the street and you see someone that you know but you are not really friends with them or don't want to talk to them, so I avoid it by pretending that I am talking to someone on my cell phone.
12. I also hate going anywhere by myself and will wait the whole day for something I really need so that Matt can go with me when he gets back from work! (if no one else can go with me by then)
13.  If you haven't figured out by now I love taking/being in pictures... :)
A little confession... it wasn't hard to find all of these pictures- I guess you could say I am obsessed! hehehe :)
I challenge you now, whats random about you?!

opinions needed...

So Matt and I have been on this house high... We got talking one day about how cool it would be to have a house and now we can't get it out of our minds.  We went on the search today for all the houses that had for sale signs on them (we were inspired by some friends ;) hahah).  Side note- if you are not ready to buy, don't look.  I want a house so bad now but I know there is a lot more to it than just that.  We are trying weighing pros and cons and trying to figure out the rest of our lives. We have been talking to lots of people and would love your insight as well.  What do you think?  Any suggestions?  Help... we are marking on new territory here and its a happy/scary moment.  We know we are going to be here for a few years at least- 3 or more, and I kinda feel like if we spent money on a house then we are not just wasting money renting something that will never be our own.  We are really liking this one house too... seriously don't go looking if you can buy one right away lol Anyway like I said we would love any input you have!  This is mostly just a dream right now, but one day it will happen.  Yup. One day! :)
Thanks!

sincerely,
Over her head

oops..

Been a while I know but seriously life is crazy!  I think this will be the first weekend in who knows how long that we actually get to spend it at home!!  We are going to tackle our bonus room to make room for Mindy, Mike, and kids to come in April!! :) Soooo stoked!  Anyway it seems like the only time I can find to blog is right before my class... so here I am.

This last weekend we went to Boise on a charter that Matt was driving for.  It was the a TSA convention there so he took up the Jr. High and High school kids from Idaho Falls.  Can I just say I am so glad to be out of high school, and married!  Let just say those kids were angels, to put it nicely they were teenagers!  hahaha but I got to spend Saturday with my cousin Rachel and play aunt for the day with her two little girls :)  So basically we got paid to go on vacation- everything paid for! :)  It was a nice break, but now back to lesson plans, callings (They dissolved the old primary presidency because everyone moved, so guess who the new president is... :) yup me!) , and trying to get my house back in order!  But on a positive note I teach on Monday on coach buses, and Matt gets to come and we are going for a ride around campus with all the kids, I am pretty excited!!  Not much has happened lately, besides spending lots of time with family :)  We also took Hunt family pictures and when I have more time i'll post some of those :)  Have a great day!
Ps.. I have lots of pictures to show but ever since I got my phone its just easier to use that for a camera so I have to figure out how to get all those 1,012 or so pictures on my computer!

parenting

Boy have I learned a lot about parenting (I know that its going to be totally different with it our kids but still...) let me explain a little- Monday, Wendsday, and Friday for 4 hours I am in the preschool teaching, playing, enjoying, cleaning up after, and solving arguments for toddlers. On Tuesdays and Fridays I babysit 3 kids (6yr, 3 yr, 1yr) from 12-whenever (normally 5-6) On Sundays I am in the primary but for my ward it's really the nursery with 2 boys that are just 18 months. So pretty much my entire week revolves around kids (when I am not with them I am preparing to be...) Don't get me wrong I LOVE IT! Sundays get a little boring when I can't sit next to husband for sunday school and instead just playing with blocks for 2 hours and talking about having babies (all the ladies in there with me are pregnant right now). Preschool is HARD work, its a different kind of work then math and science... you are preparing for lessons weeks in advanced, coming up with new ideas every day, observing, teaching, evaluating, crafting, reading...etc. It's hard though cause its not the normal kind of teaching-DuH! You can't just lecturechildren they have to be involved in everything you do- there is sooo much more then I ever thought I would need to do in preschool.
But something that I have learned from all of this was the kind of parent I am going to be (well hope to be) I have this image in my head that whenever something goes wrong IE my child is throwing a tantrum over something and I can't calm them down, ill just put out one of my many binders and read what to do if I can't remember it already. It's crazy how you can see all of the different parenting types in a preschool, even when the parents aren't there you can tell. You can tell which children are the youngest, oldest, only girl/boy, ones who's parents are still in school, or working full time... etc We learned today that the key to disciplined is a fantasticcurriculum. But how does that have anything to do with parenting you ask?! I have realized while babysitting after school that the children mostly act out because of boredom... when I give them something to do or look forward to its not bad, and they actually seem to work together... I strongly believe that if things are more thought out everyday then we would have more child interaction there fore making it so we don't have to feel like we are always nagging. Another thing I have learned is to just let children be children. Play is the best way for learning, Learning is NOT a race... I feel bad for those children that their parents think they are slower when everyone their age is reading, or walking. Every child is different and needs to be treated as such.
We have been talking a lot about "play" in my curriculum for young children class. Its sad to see how things have changed since I was a child. I remember going out and playing neighbor games, riding bikes, jumping on the tramp, playing make believe with friends... and now with all of our technology and cool toys kids are going outside less and less, and loosing the ability to make believe because they are giving the toy instead. I am not saying this is how everyone is but this is something I am going to work on with my children. Just letting them be themselves. Playing and learning new things for themselves... I think sometimes I miss my childhood, I want my children to live theirs to the fullest! :) I know I know I have all these things up in my head thinking that parenting is going to be a piece of cake... but I am sure hoping with everything I have seen and learned lately that its going to be something like that, and when its not I hope I only remember the days that are! :)
*side note another reason why I love Matt so much is because he understands how important all of this is to me, and will do anything so I can be at home with our children all day everyday. I will be there- the other day when I was baby sitting when the mom came home I was holding the 1 yr old, I went to give her to her mom and she started crying and refused to go to her. It broke my heart to see her mom tear up and think "why wont my own child come to me?" I can promise you that that will never happen! :) Don't get me wrong she is a great mother but we have just both agreed that my full time job is going to be a mother, not a provider.

Ps... sorry this looks so funny I just am kinda out of it these day... :)

Family Ski trip!

Last weekend we got the chance to go on a family ski trip, everyone was there minus the little ones, and Becca and Jennifer even came from Provo.  Pretty much it was amazing it all worked out the way it did.  And it was the Dew Tour that weekend so Powder mountain was EMPTY!  It was sweeeet!  It was the first time for most of us, or like the second time...
I don't want to brag or anything but I am like a pro, I only fell once while skiing down the moutain the other 2 were on the lift.  We were taught to turn our skis into a "pizza" (almost chris crossed)  to stay slower and "french fry" (straight) and I even went into the "french fry" position a few times!  I think Matt and I found a new hobby! :)

Kyron was there too, he didn't really enjoy it as much as we all did and ended up having to leave early for a school thing anyway but at least he tried it! We missed you Ky :)

there were lots of falls for other people... some not as bad as others :) hehe

Matt even tried snowboarding-and he was pretty good at it!

stalling...

So this morning I snoozed my alarm 3 times, slowly straitened my hair, and put on my make up, had a bowl of cereal, printed off all my assignments that are do and I am still trying to stall before going to class super early...On Tuesday I went to my morning class that starts at 8 normally I am the 3rd person to get there (its a class for my preschool labs so its only support teachers so we all know each other really well) Well today I was the first person and it was only like 7:50.  I started my mini freak out.  Did we have class? Should I be in the labs right now? Did I miss a email?! You know how it is when you start worrying about something.  So I text my friend in the class.  No response.  Just as i'm about to leave and try to act like nothing just happened (even though there was a classroom of people out in the hall for some reason)  another girl walked in around 7:58.  Really?! Class starts at 8 and there are only 2 of us in there?  A more trickled in and yes we had class.  The first 2 girls that are normally there were just absent. Weird right?! Any way so that's why I am stalling... I don't need another mini freak out on a already crazy busy day.  I have to get everything done before tonight because we are going skiing with my family tomorrow.  Yup you heard it right skiing! :)  If you need a good laugh for the day please join us as we try to learn how to ski.  :)
Ps. If you see someone that looks kinda like this... feel free to lend a helping hand :) I would appreciate it :)
