Staining furniture!

I wish I would have taken a good before picture but I guess we just got to excited and forgot!  BOO!  We got our piano for free (we saved it from the dumpster!) It needed some help but Babe was excited to experiment with it.  He fixed all the sticky keys, and even learned how to tune it.  The piano didn't have a book holder on it so a while we decided to make one!  While we were in Utah on one of our trips Babe designed, and cut out the book holder all by himself (and help from my mom!)  After he made it it sat on our piano for months before we actually finished sanding and stained it.  Oops..

^^ It's kind of hard to see but you can see the book holder in the picture above. ^^

Babe has loved taking apart the piano and seeing how it all works.  One of the black keys had broken off so he figured out how to take it off and glue it back together!

While Babe worked on the piano I worked on our coffee table we got from a friend.  We love it because it has some good storage on it and the top lifts up into a tall table!

I sanded it down and used some gel stain!
Another issue with the piano was the lid- it was chipped and had water damage on it so some of the wood was warped and missing.  We sanded it all down, filled in the missing spots to make it all even and stained the lid- the same color as the coffee table and the piano book holder.  If we planned on keeping the piano forever we would have stained it all and made it look amazing but with limited time, space, and money we decided against it. So it may look a little funny to have some of it black and some of it brown but  with our other brown and black things in our family room we thought it was okay.

our living room was a mess while we did this- we don't have a garage or any good place to sand/ stain and let our stuff dry so it was all on drop clothes spread out through the house.
Not to mention we could only really stain after Jenson had gone to bed so it was quite the process!

AFTER!  Believe it or not it looks, sounds, and feels 100% better then it did.  Still not the best piano but we are proud of how it turned out- and happy to have it finished!  Maybe later down the road we will stain more of it but for now were calling it!  Also I LOVE how the book holder turned out- Babe sure is a man of many talents!

St. Patricks Day

For St. Patricks day we decided to head to the zoo, we had to renew our membership anyway (this time we got it with the rides!!).  Looking back we should had but Jenson in a different color since it was St. Pattys day and everyone was in green haha it was kind of hard to spot a run away child lol

Jensons favorite part of the zoo!

The rest of the day was pretty laid back, we came home and all took naps, watched a movie and went to bed! haha A day at the zoo sure can wipe out this pregnant lady!

Kyron gets engaged!!

I still can't believe my little brother is old enough to get married!  It's the last wedding for the Cravens, completing our family! Meagan, my brothers Fiance is the perfect addition to our family, and the perfect person to fill in the last spot!
Meagan grew up in our stake, her parents live a few streets away from my parents.  Kyron and Meagan even dated a little in High School, but nothing came of it back then.
Kyron planned the cutest proposal ever!  He went to all of her friends, family, and coworkers and asked them what they love most about Meagan.  He filmed all of them and then put them into a movie.  His good friends family owns the Kaysville Theater so they let him play the movie there.  Little did Meagan know that the theater was full of all of our family, her family, and friends!  She had NO idea they were even there till later.  My dad's institute sometimes rents out the theater for a Saturday morning movie for families so that was the excuse Kyron gave her.  Lucky for me my dad facetimed us during the whole thing so we could watch- have I mentioned before how I hate living far away from home? haha

Of course she said YES, and we couldn't be more excited!!  The wedding is set for May 19th 2017.  It's a short engagement but they were nice enough to get married before our baby comes so that we could all be there!

I'll post a link to the video when it's all finished!

Jenson looses a tooth!

Remember this time when we were coming back from our Utah trip and Jenson decided to jump off the bed in our hotel room and take a chunk of wall out with his teeth?  After we went to the dentist they said to just keep an eye on it for mis coloring but it should be fine.  Well fast forward 2 and a half years later...  I woke up this morning and noticed something was wrong with Jenson's tooth.  I felt it and it was so loose.  I can't think of anything that he did to make it loose I think it was just getting loose over time.  Jenson loves to brush his own teeth but I will try to give them a really good scrub every few days.  So I'm really not sure how long it had been like that.. mom fail!  Anyway we called the dentist and they let us come in right away.  Luckily it happened on a day where Babe had only a few classes so it was easy for him to come with me.

We went in the first time, took a picture of the tooth and watched Toy Story until the dr. came back (they are like super fast and we were in and out within the half hour!)  She showed us the picture of his tooth- it was basically just holding on to his gums, no root left.  Luckily it wasn't infected or anything but it was going to come out sooner then later.  I didn't want to have to worry about it falling out and me not noticing it and having Jenson choke on it so we decided to come back in a few hours to get it pulled.

Babe tried to pull it before we went in, but obviously he had none of that! haha
When we came back he got the special room haha  The nurse tried to get him to smell the laughing gas so that he would be calm but he didn't want that thing even close to his face.  They had Babe come and hold him just so he won't be so scared. 5 minutes after getting there the tooth was pulled.

There was obvious tears for a while but after he got some water and picked out another toy from their treasure chest he was just fine.  He keeps rubbing his tongue in the spot which is funny but other then that I don't think its bugged him at all!  Now I just have to get used to having a little toothless boy around for the next few years before his permanent one can come in...
Here is to trying to embrace the space! haha
