Playing in the rain!

I am not above bribing Jenson to get him to do things #bestmomever.  So today I his reward was to get to go swimming, he was so good all morning running errands with me, so I promised him after his nap we would go to the pool.  Of course because we wanted to go do something fun he took a freakishly long nap!  We had dinner plans with some friends at 5:30 and he woke up at 4.  I figured even a hour of swimming would be enough so I  could keep my promise.  We got all ready and ran out the door.  As soon as we got to the pool it started pouring rain.  We were meeting some friends there so I called her to see if they were shutting down the pool, of course they were.  But since we were already all in our swimsuits it didn't matter if we got all wet so we headed to the park instead to just play in the rain.

It was hard core raining the whole time- Jenson was already soaked in like 5 minutes of being outside! I stayed mostly dry with the umbrella- someone had to be taking pictures haha

It's hard to tell but it's raining in every picture-Jenson was in heaven!

^^ Can you spy the rainbow through the trees? ^^
Somehow the kids ended up just laying the the warm gutter water.  My cleanliness in me was shouting but YOLO right? haha So I let him puddle jump and play to his hearts desires!

^^ These two are thick as thieves! I love it! ^^

We even got home and showered just in time to make dinner!  We got some strange looks I'm sure but seeing the look on Jenson face made it all worth it!  I would call it a mom win for sure!

Drive in Movie

Kansas heat is no joke but we decided to not let that stop us from having fun!  A group of friends were all heading to the drive in so I talked Babe into going too!  He is such a good sport!  They have a fun little playground in front of the screen that you can play on- Jenson loves this ghetto slide, even if he does get crazy dirty while playing!

Seriously- check out those storm clouds!  Amazingly beautiful!

There is also this little hill with a creek at the bottom.  It was quite the chore making sure Jenson didn't run for it, but we had fun watching all the other kids fall in the water hahaha

We went to go see The Secret Life of Pets.  I was convinced Jenson would love it and want to sit there and watch it... he made it about 10 minutes in before he got restless.  It was nice while it lasted!
I ended up in the back of the car with Jenson trying to keep him occupied enough so I could still enjoy the movie.  We wanted to stay for the BFG that was playing right after but with a child who refuses to sleep not in his bed, we decided it was best on all of us to head home.  Over all it was a fun night with friends, we got to watch a cute movie, and cross things off our Kansas must do list!  So I would call the night a win!

4th of July!-2016

I LOVE the 4th of July, it's probably my favorite holiday!  I couldn't even sleep the night before and woke up way to early!  Our celebrations started on Sunday.  After church we went over to the Simmons and had a good old BBQ- nothing says 4th of July like a BBQ!
It's been a tradition every year to make Jensons shirt- I can't believe how big he has gotten (and how much more cooperative he is when painting his hand and placing it on his shirt haha)
We hit up the Lenexa parade like last year  except we didn't have my parents with me.  We did bring some Twizzlers with us in honor of them though! We have scoped out some prime location every year.  There is shade from the building behind up all the way till the end of the parade- it's the best!

Jenson started out pretty restless and wanted to run all over the place, but as soon as the parade started he stayed right by us and watched it go by (for the most part..)  He was so cute pointing at all he cars (which there are a TON of in this parade)!

I get a little bitter when I think about next year and not having the Simmons there with us- it's our tradition every year and it's just not going to be the same with out them.  I am pretty sure they can just never move- or at least until we are done with school too!  Deal? ;)

Years past the parade was kind of lame with only a few pieces of taffy thrown out- this year was much better. We hit the jack pot with bubble gum and Babe had a fun time blowing bubbles with it!

After the parade we headed home for naps.  Then we had some stake and potatoes with my attempt at red, white, and blue jello! haha  After dinner we headed out to the golf course to get ready for fireworks.  It's the perfect viewing place, and nice that Jenson can just run around like crazy! We love playing Bocce ball while we wait as well!

Right before the fireworks started we got Jenson all ready for bed and trapped him in his stroller so he couldn't run all around.  We got him out as soon as the fireworks started and he sat on the blanket and watched them with Babe.  He keeps asking when we are going to go see the fireworks again- he loved them, and the parade!

Kansas fireworks never disappoint they always have lots of hearts, smiley faces, and "USA", in their fireworks!

We sure are blessed to live in this country with the freedoms we have.  Thank you to all the men and women who so bravely fight for our freedoms and as always God bless America!
